The Schools co‑operative SocietyThe Schools Co-operative Society co-ordinates a network of educational organisations and provides advice and support to its members. It gives a voice to the rapidly growing co-operative sector within the UK educational system.

The network of Co-operative Schools held their annual gathering in November this year at Manchester. The event gave members of the Schools Co-operative Society and other schools who are are interested in the network, an opportunity to meet and find out the many varied opportunities as a Co-operative School.
In addition to keynote speaches from guests such as Stephen Twigg MP and Dr John Dunford, the Chair of Whole Education, there was an opening address from Dame Pauline Green, President of the International Co-operative Alliance. She outlined the important place of co-operatives across the world in the international economy and particularly the role of educational co-operatives such as the ones in our network. This year has been officially designated as the International Year of Co-operatives by the UN with the closing ceremonies held in Manchester in 2012.
The networks' next annual conference is planned to take place alongside these events.
